Christmas Eve!

Merry Christmas Eve to all you Catholics out there!

I'm very busy today, but I just wanted to give a quick review on something. Last year my sister got me these hand wipes [and face wipes] from bath and body works; they're Rosemary Mint scented. Anywhoo, I didn't use them for awhile but I found them last week in my bathroom and I decided to give them a try. I use the face wipes before Volleyball because I like to take off all my face makeup because sweating in makeup just really grosses me out [plus I’d like to NOT have a face full of blackheads]. They work so well! I like that they're easy to use, and you don't need to splash your face with water after you use them [unless you want to]. I know a lot of other face makeup removing wipes you need to use water with, which can be a pain if you don't want to have raccoon eyes. Then yesterday I was really tired and the hand wipes were in my purse and I didn't feel like washing my face [EWWW, GROSSS!!] so I was like 'hey, I’m going to use these hand wipes'. So I did, AND I REALLY LIKE THEM! I don't recommend using them on a regular basis because they're meant for your hands, but it was nice to see that I had the option if I was ever in a pinch. They left my skin kind of tingly from the mint and definitely clean. I was surprised that my face didn't get red or bumpy from them because I have such a sensitive face, so that was really nice.

I looked online at the website and I can't seem to find them, but maybe they're only in stores? They come in a grayish/brownish plastic "pouch" and they're by Bath and Body Works.

I hope everyone has a Merry Christmas/ Happy Holiday season. I might do a quick rundown of some of my favorite gifts tomorrow and probably a bunch of pointless posts because I'll have a lot of free time.

I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus

This snowy weather has resulted in poor traveling conditions [which means another day spent with my nose in various cookie tins]. Instead of going shopping, my mom and I have decided to make this amazing bread we have for breakfast on Christmas morning. It's a risen bread with lots of candied fruits, which were soaked in rum [delicious!]. Hopefully I won't scarf down too many goodies today, I've already had some scrumptious whole milk yogurt, cereal, a whole wheat roll, a truffle and a massive handful of Carmel corn [SOMEONE CUT ME OFF!!!] Does your family have any interesting Holiday traditions? [aka: GIVE ME DELICIOUS RECIPES!]
One more rant of the day...
My apologies if you're really into hauls [and looking at everything I own in my closet]. If that's you, I want to come out and say I'm against doing "hauls" [wait! don't feed me to the wolves yet!] I feel that hauls are just bragging. I think that it's different when you buy something really special and you'd like to share it with everyone, or you want to show something you got at some super sale, or if you're doing a review on an item. Those are productive hauls and they make sense. People like to see what other people buy. I get it. In my opinion, I just feel awkward sitting in front of my camera saying 'I bought this top for 45 dollars, blahblahblah it is soooo cool'. I DO really like hauls of vintage clothing. The clothing is unique and it's fun to see something you won't find at F21, HM, Top Shop, UO, etc. Posting a few pictures of items recently purchased isn't horrible. A video is overkill.
Happy eating!

It beginning to look a lot like, SNOW!

So, last night Mother Nature "blessed" us with 4 inches of snow. I don't mind since I don't really need to go outside, but I feel bad for anyone who might have a life outside their living room [the snow has put me in a nice Christmas-y mood though]. For some reason, I've been wearing a lot of blacks and grays. I'm usually color obsessed, but recently I've really been layering on the darker colors [which probably makes me look like a corpse]. What's everyone hoping to get for the holidays? I know that I really wanted this Betsey Johnson black leather bag [it's super intense]. I'm sorry to say that I know for a fact that I will not get this, [but that wont stop me from buying it with my Christmas money! MUAHAHA]. Well, that's enough of that. I'm off to do some more running around with my mom today [which I do frequently...>.>] I made a little collage of some of the things I'd really like for Christmas, let's keep our fingers crossed.

Another thing I'd like to touch on: Holiday Etiquette. Every time I'm out between Thanksgiving and Christmas Eve, I've noticed how ridiculous some people act. Although people hark about holiday spirit, it seems that most are rude and pushy towards people they don't know. When you're out shopping, remember that you're not the only one looking for the best deal, behind schedule and stressed out. There is no excuse to not say please and thank you, cut in front of people, not say 'excuse me' and snap at those in retail. Don't like consumerism consume you, rise above the pressures of the modern holiday and remember to be courteous and don't put your needs above everyone else [aka, don't be a total bitch].

Happy Holidays!

Word Barf...reloaded.

I have a rant...

WTF IS UP WITH LINDSAY LOHAN?! I decided to search the world wide web today, and I stumbled upon this strange little risque video [or should I say, one of the many...] and I was just so baffled by it [it was supposted to be "art", but instead I felt like I was watching a porno in black and white.]. Since when did a 23-ish [?] year old girl end up looking older then my mother? Oh, probably when she started snorting coke and doing shots for breakfast. And an FYI for all, black and white doesn't make anything look more classy. Lindsay Lohan without close on is going to look just as trashy with the black and white as it is without. Is it cool to look like a complete and utter hot mess? Yes, but only when you're not actaully a total mess. How did she go from this adorable, red headed, freakled "twin" to some insane, mentally and physically ill druggie? Obviously she grew up but last time I checked the manuel for maturing teenagers didn't come with a few lines of coke and a monogrammed shot glass. At this point I don't feel bad for her, but I do feel bad for her family and those who have to be around her. I can't imagine she's a very pleasant person to be around [atleast not pleasant to look at]. Since her acting has been brought down to porno-esque "art", she can still make one contribution to society. Throw a picture up on an ad for drug awareness. I'm sure if more young girls saw her they'd stay as far away from drugs as they could.

HELLO! IS ANYONE THERE?!?!

Today I actually decided to do something with my life and I went out shopping...with my mom >.> Maybe that makes my life more sad? Whatever, judge me. The fact that I don't have any money [and getting to be rotund] didn't deter me from buying an overpriced cafe au leit and scarfing down gummy grapefruit wedges while purusing countless stores. Of course I ended up picking up unecessary things, including 3 different shades of pink lipstick, from Revlon, that aren't what I hoped for and 2 shades of Revlon nail polish. DON'T CALL THE LOONY HOUSE YET, but I've come to the conclusion that Revlon nail polish is better then OPI. HEAR ME OUT. Obviously OPI has a reputation and a HUGE array of colors to chose from, but Revlon is just as good and it's much cheaper. PLUS, my Revlon polish dries incredibly fast. Sometimes I find myself going cross eyed from waiting for some of my OPI colors to dry. I mean you put this Revlon on and BAMO, 40 seconds later it's hard as rock diamond. Plus, when I pay close to nine dollars per OPI nail color [and I tend to buy 3+ at a time...] that adds up pretty quick for polish I may use 3 or 4 times [WASTE]. I'm just a nail polish pack rat, and I like to have an assortment of colors and when they dry quickly and only cost 4 bucks..it's easy for me to get my fix.

So, I also picked up a bajillion sweaters, because these New England winters make me feel like a ninety year old women with severe arthritis. Plus I picked up a pair of cozy suede boots and a few things I ordered online came today! I'll let you know how everything works out.

On a side note, PLEASE, if someone has a great MATTE [NOT FROSTED, SPARKLY, GLITTERY DAZZLING, OR SHIMMERY] nude or pink lipstick that they love, let me know. I've been searching for a great nude lipstick [I've tried mac, nars, everything, and I can't find one which has resulted in spending enough to feed a small nation [sort of]. Michelles look above, is the one that I'm going for since we have the same coloring and such, so let me know your experiences!

Alexa who?

I know there's been a bit of buzz over the fact that Alexa Chung is not going to be going into a second season. Im heart broken. Frankly, I don't give a damn. I do not deny that at times I have watched It's On, and I've enjoyed it...but frankly I think it was pretty pointless show; that doesn't mean I didn't have fun watching it. Alexa, in my opinion, is a funny girl and I like her sense of humor. What I do not like is people who go on about her "great style" and about how ravishing she is. Honestly, I don't see it. And, since when did great style + beautiful, former model = great TV personality? Oh, I forgot...that's what TV is all about.

Anywhoo, I wish Alexa the best [not like it's necessary] and hopefully she can find some other calling in life besides her "great style" and bean pole body. ohohoh! IDEA! I think she should have stuck to modeling...

Incase you haven't noticed yet, I'm incredibly sarcastic. You may or may not have picked up on it though because sarcasm doesn't show well in print, instead it just comes off on the bitchy side. I apologize if you hate sarcasm...but then again, not really.  ;D

Winter Wonderland

I live in New England, so right now everything is covered in snow, it's freezing cold out and everyones all reved up for the Holidays. I LOVE IT! The crispness in the air and the stark, black and white coloring of the landscape are a few of my favorite things. [Plus, I love winter clothing.] While winter isn't my favorite season, I love it because I happen to celebrate Christmas. The Holiday season is so wonderful in New England; everything is decorated, music playing everywhere. Sure, Christmas music get's old after listening to it daily from Thanksgiving until Christmas day but...that's okay. I only tolerate snow until the week after the Holidays...once they're over I want it to skip right to summer. Right now I'm appreciating time with family [at least that's the mature thing to say], scarfing down books, indulging in various types of hot teas throughout the day and jotting down every pathetic idea I have for my blog... ;D

La Mode

I've got an obscene amount of time on my hands tonight, so I thought I'd make a few Polyvore collages. Like I said in my earlier post, I’m not trying to be a fashion blog. I do read plenty of magazines and I shop at places like Urban Outfitters, Forever 21, Lord and Taylor, Topshop etc. But I’m not claiming to be some fashion or makeup guru. I think fashions fun because it’s so personal; I can wear two different colored socks with a pair of 5 inch chunky heels, a sweatshirt, a leather mini skit and that can be my “fashion”. About the collages, I've made one of semi formal/formal wear and one portraying what I wear normally during the winter months. Yes, I actually wear these things and I own a bunch of these items in the collage. Before you criticize what I put on these, I want to come forth and say I have no sense of style and I don’t claim to. I wear comfortable things that hide all those places that I don't like to look at. I have a normal body type, normal insecurities and I’m not some tall bean pole. I chose to wear what I believe suits my body best. Whether or not that happens to be your idea of stylish or not doesn't matter to me because this is what I want to wear, not what I want YOU to wear. When it comes to fashion posts, you can leave me some input and I’ll read it and I’ll possibly take it to heart if what you say makes an immense amount of sense to me…that probably won’t happen though. ;D

Night Out

Camelot

Well well, last night I watched Camelot, the Richard Harris and Vanessa Redgrave cast. I have to say, what happened to love stories like that? Oh, I know! They turned into books like Twilight... o.O Now don't get me wrong, I like my own fair share of Edward Cullen, but come on, LOOK AT RICHARD HARRIS, he's so talented! I think I'm obsessed with old movies because they don't seem as cliché as most of the new romance movies that come out now. Because we over use all of our actors/actresses; I can't believe them when they're acting, I just don't get pulled into the story. Every time I watch Richard and Vanessa I can't help but smile like an idiot in the beginning and then bawl my eyes out by the last scene. I grew up with these old movies, and so I can't help but think Vanessa Regrave is totally beautiful and Richard Harris and immensely handsome...minus the eye shadow he's sporting in this movie. A week after watching the movie, the songs are still stuck in my head. As you can tell I'm a huge, but maybe I'm just emotionally unsound? Well, draw your own conclusions.

enjoy,
xo G

Hello Cyber World!

Guten Tag fellow "bloggers",

Call me G/Gee/Gigi/Gi because that's what everyone else calls me. Here I am, following the the mass trends and creating a blog...original. I don't know what the focal point of this blog will be and I don't want to commit to one topic. I'll probably rant mostly, with sprinklings of the occational productive post regarding literature, "fashion", current events and personal anecdotes. This blog doesn't have a purpose besides letting me use the internet as an outlet to some creative, and un, energy. I don't make any sense most of the time, so don't expect anything I post to be the slightest bit enlightening or creative. As you might have already seen, I call myself a whimsical pessimist. Whimsical because I see myself as peculiar, and fanciful; I should have been born as some scottish sprite, pixie or faerie. On the other hand, I am a true pessimist, always expecting the worst; the first to look on the dark side of anything. I also have the habit of being too honest. I have blunt opinions, and I say it how it is. If you think I might "rub you the wrong way" [ ;) ], stop in your tracks and hit that convinient back arrow at the top of your browser.

I hope I haven't scared you all away yet...For the few brave ones that are still reading, I look forward to posting 4-6 times a week. Unfortunately, I do attend school and I have a life that doesn't take place in cyber space.

I'll be making plenty of posts this week, so look out!
